SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Forsyth Park reopen Saturday after being shut down because of a gas leak.
Savannah Fire officials say a commercial gas line broke behind a restaurant at Duffy Street and Bull Street.
Forsyth Park was closed and nearby buildings were evacuated.
Even a wedding in the park was halted until Savannah Fire could get the gas leak under control.
"We started an immediate evacuation of the area, due to the volume of gas that was leaking and at that time our firefighters suited up and attempted to shut the valve off. The break was below the valve, so we basically had to evacuate the area, stand by and wait for the gas company to come in and secure the leak."
Savannah fire crews were on the scene less than a minute after getting the call.
Investigators still aren't sure what caused the leak.
