CCSO passes out Halloween candy during trick or treat

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

The Chatham County Sheriff's Office is one of many law enforcement agencies passing out Halloween candy during trick or treat this year.

Deputies filled up and passed out more than 750 bags of candy to children in several neighborhoods in the county Wednesday.

This is the second year deputies have passed out candy during trick or treat. It's a way for law enforcement to have a positive presence in the community and keep kids safe on Halloween.

"It's a wonderful thing to be able to give back to the community. It provides a positive police presence. We don't just take people to jail. We actually do good things like pass out Halloween candy," said Octavius Anderson, CCSO investigator.

Deputies passed out candy in Yamacraw Village, Georgetown, neighborhoods on Pennsylvania Ave., Thunderbolt, Paradise Park and near 37th St. and Waters Ave.
