Jasper County deputies have called in the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to investigate a homicide.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on Pecan Grove Ln., off Rice Shire Rd., just outside Ridgeland in Jasper County.
"Calvin didn't deserve this," said Pepper Williams. "He didn't bother anybody. They just shouldn't have done it."
Williams she was inside the home on the computer when several men came looking for her cousin, Calvin Washington, 27, also known as Calvin Stevenson.
"They knew what they were doing, they had masks on looking for him," said Williams.
Williams says they pinned down another relative outside and then shot Washington several times in the doorway.
"I heard the gunshots," said Williams. "He must have closed the door. When he closed the door, that's when he must have caught the rest of them through the door because whoever shot him, shot through the door. By the time I heard him gasping for air, I crawled down the hallway and saw him just laying there on the floor and he was gone."
She says she still can't believe someone did this to her cousin.
"He would do anything for you," said Williams. "When I moved back home, he was here the whole time helping me, making sure I was okay. He was just a real cool person to be around. He didn't like altercations."
While authorities aren't releasing many details at this time, they say they do not have any suspects in custody. They are asking anyone with information to call CrimeStoppers.
