Crab Shack owner: I knew it was an inside job

Posted: Updated:

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police have arrested two people, and are still searching for the last man they say is involved in the Crab Shack robbery.

Police say on October 8th an armed robber entered the Crab Shack gift shop right at closing time, and demanded cash from the employee as she was totaling up the nights receipts. He held her at gunpoint and took her to several parts of the gift shop demanding she open the safe. When she was unable to open it he fled, taking the safe with him. A vehicle was waiting outside the business with a driver and both men left the area before police arrived.

On October 15, Amanda Allen  was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Akem White was charged with party to a crime, ( armed robbery)  Detectives say they determined throughout their investigation that Allen was involved with the planning and White was the driver.

Crab Shack owner Jack Flanigan is proud of police, but also saddened the suspects were former employees he says.

"I'm betrayed because someone who worked here would do that, but you kind of expect it. They knew too much about the place. We figured it had to be someone who worked here," Flanigan said.

Detectives are still looking for a third suspect, Artedez Caldwell for armed robbery. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include "CStop2020" plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
