SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Southside Fire crews were out early Friday trying to contain a structure fire in Savannah.

A call went out around 4:30 a.m. Friday to a fully involved structure fire right behind The Sanctuary on Whitefield Ave. near Blakeley Rd. Firefighters say it was a small shed fire that they had under control shortly after they arrived on scene. The fire was reported out by 5 a.m. and no one was found inside.

Butch Decker, maintenance for The Sanctuary, says that the shed belonged to the church and they used it to store tools and paint inside.

Fire crews are concerned because the fire happened right behind several homes that sit on Blakeley Rd. They say they are working to keep the fire out and monitoring hot spots to ensure it does not reignite.

Fire officials say they are calling this fire very suspicious. A similar fire broke out a couple of days ago just three-and-a-half blocks away on Old Montgomery Rd. Both fires occured at structures with no power, giving them no reason to catch fire.

Officials say they do not know what started the shed fire at this time and will continue to look into the cause.
