SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Metro Police are investigating the shooting of seven people at the Coastal Empire Fairgrounds on Saturday night.
Police said Jamiende Johnson, 19; Keonna Roberson, 14; Deshawn King, 16; Diqwanie Butler, 18; Keyona Haward, 17; Jeffery Crawford, 18; and Tamika Williams, 36, were shot and were taken by ambulance or driven by others to Savannah hospitals.
One of the victims underwent surgery and was listed in fair condition on Sunday morning. Police said none of the injuries were described as life-threatening.
Police said officers on patrol at the fair had just broke up an unrelated fight in the area near the rides when shots were fired nearby about 10:40 p.m. Victims were secured, and the fairgrounds were locked down.
Police searched for a gunman who was wearing a dark jumpsuit. Several people were detained and interviewed by SCMPD's Violent Crimes detectives and released.
Other attendees were allowed to begin leaving by about 11:15 p.m.
Police continue to search for the shooter and are working on confirming a motive.
Exchange Club of Savannah officials said they anticipate the fair opening as scheduled at noon Sunday, according to SCMPD.
