SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
The lunchtime rush to the polls is on. Lines formed early Tuesday morning on Rothwell Road Baptist Church in Pooler.
The first voter in line arrived at about 5 a.m. With early voting turnout lower than expected, poll officials expect a very busy day.
The pre-lunch rush wait time was about 35-40 minutes and more than 600 people already casting their vote.
The rain and early-morning chill also didn't deter voters. They patiently waited with umbrellas in hand to cast their vote.
"[I'm] eager to participate in the process. I work at Fort Stewart and the men and women put their lives on the line every day to protect this freedom. we have. it's more than a freedom it's a responsibility and don't want to take that lightly," said Ken Cook of Pooler.
"We really need to see the economy improve. [We] need to see jobs coming back to America and folks getting back to work," said Jody Robinson of Pooler.
