Police looking for video of Coastal Empire Fair shooting

Posted: Updated:
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are continuing to investigate Saturday night's shooting at the Coastal Empire Fair. Police say seven people were shot, all with non-life threatening injuries. Now, police are asking anyone with cell phone video of the shooting to email the video to video@savannahga.gov or send it to Crimestoppers (directions below).

Monday, Mayor Edna Jackson and members of the Savannah City Council called a news conference and gave a firm warning to teens, parents, and the entire community that enforcement is going to tighten up.

Police Chief Willie Lovett echoed Mayor Jackson's comments and said he's requesting five juvenile officers in addition to the five he already has.

The juvenile officers interact with Savannah's youth in hopes of keeping the children on the right path.

Officer Dion Hurley said, "We try to let them know that we care about them and we're there to help them. If we catch them starting to go the wrong way, our job is to rehabilitate them and get them on the right track by helping them and their parents to be successful in the community."

Officer Jeremy McKnight said, "Our juvenile department is going to stand fast and we're going to keep on moving towards the vision and work extra hard to make sure that the vision is complete."
