Elizabeth Smith
BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -
A
former Beaufort County Clerk of Court who pleaded guilty to embezzling
money is asking the court to end her probation early.
In January
2006, Elizabeth Smith diverted $68,000 in federal child support money to pay
the judicial salary of a family member working for the Beaufort County Drug

As the

in a personal account in which she was a signatory.
She pleaded guilty April
2011 to conversion of public money and was sentenced to five years of
probation. Her
probation expires in Sept. 2015.
Solicitor
