Elijah Coles at Notre Dame Academy in Savannah won the essay contest held by the Catholic War Veterans.

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A seventh-grader won a Veterans Day essay contest.

Elijah Coles at Notre Dame Academy in Savannah won the competition held by the Catholic War Veterans. Coles' family inspired him - his grandfather and uncles have served in the military. They tell him to do his very best every day.

The veterans loved his essay and hope to have many more participants in the future.
