If you are a Comcast customer on the limited basic service or expanded service, you will need a new converter or digital adapter in December.
Comcast has said they are moving their basic channels to digital as part of their digital conversion plan, which will be a two phase process. The first round of changes will be on December 5th and then again on December 12th.
Those customers will have to pick up a box if they don't already have one. You can also order the adapters, free of charge, online or in person.
City Councilman Tony Thomas said the city is already working on plan to make the switch as painless as possible.
"We are currently working - the city that is - with staff to put distribution points throughout the city to make it easier for folks to stop by close to their neighbors rather than go all the way out to Chatham Parkway," Thomas said.
Comcast tells WTOC they have begun notifying effected customers through the mail and with phone calls.
Here's the Comcast number for digital the switch. Basic and extended basic customers can call 877.634.4434 or go to comcast.com/digitalnow.
