5th grade students at Walker Middle School in Ludowici filled the gym Friday for a ceremony marking their completion of the Georgia Sheriff's Association program CHAMPS, which stands for Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety.
Sgt. Robert Poppell steered the students clear of drugs and alcohol, and taught personal safety lessons.
Family and teachers attended the ceremony to show their support. WTOC's Sonny Dixon spoke at the event.
