On Monday, Dr. Thomas Lockamy, the Superintendent of Schools for the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System, and members of the ALL Foundation surprised four teachers with grant money to help put innovative projects into action. Garden City Elementary teacher Natalie Mercer says she will be using the money to purchase new supplies and books for students.
"I have wanted this for a really long time. I had no idea I was going to get it. I am so excited and I can't wait to do all of these things with the kids. It is going to be great," said Mercer.
Teachers from Savannah Early College, May Howard Elementary and Isle of Hope K-8 were also surprised with grants.
