Former escapee says it's not worth it

EMANUEL CO., GA (WTOC) -

Authorities continue to search for three men who managed to escape from the Emanuel County jail.

Six inmates were able to escape. But as of Monday investigators locked up four.

"We have no reason to believe at this time that any of them are armed. We've had no reports of any theft of firearms or entering autos which is unusual," Sheriff Tyson Stephens said.

Matthew Findley and Jeffrey Webb are still on the run.

Deputies, U.S. Marshals, and the FBI searched Monday for the remaining escapees.

Rodney Roundtree told WTOC he escaped from the Emanuel County Jail in 1995 with three fellow prisoners.

"We bombarded the guard and ran up out of there. I wish I wouldn't have done it. I'm still on parole right now," Roundtree said.

He says he was the last in his group to get caught and he says it's only a matter of time before police find the men.

"They are going to catch them," he said.
