Three killed in car, ambulance collision

Three people were killed on Tuesday morning after a driver crashed while speeding away from a traffic stop.

At about  1 a.m. Tuesday, a Glynn County police officer tried to pull over the driver of a Toyota Corolla on Spur 25. The driver wouldn't stop, and the officer started chasing the Corolla, according to police.

The chase hit speeds up to 80 mph and 100 mph. The driver crashed into an ambulance that happened to be at the intersection of Highway 303 and Spur 25, according to police.

Candice Smith, the driver of the Corolla; passengers Coray Lemon and Cedric Daniels, all of Brunswick, were killed in the crash.

The ambulance driver was OK, but the patient in the back was transported to Brunswick Memorial. The EMT in the back of the ambulance was also injured.

The Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate.
