Brian Keyes, 34, of Savannah, is in custody after attempting to sell controlled substances during an operation conducted by the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team.
Metro police requested the assistance of CNT after finding an abandoned vehicle filled with prescription drugs that previously fled from marked Metro police units. CNT then conducted an investigation into the recovered prescription pills and identified Keyes as their primary suspect.
CNT furthered their investigation by having an undercover CNT agent communicate with Keyes. Keyes did not know he was communicating with an undercover agent and agreed to sell him Roxicodone, a highly addictive painkiller.
Keyes arrived at the agreed meet location, an Enmark Gas Station on East DeRenne, just before 8 p.m. Tuesday and waUnde taken into custody without incident. A search of Keyes and his vehicle resulted in the seizure of 140 Roxicodone pills, 164 Methadone pills, 112 Xanex pills and $1,134 in cash.
Keyes is currently being held at the Chatham County Detention Center. Tuesday's arrest marked Keyes 17th arrest in Chatham County and second arrest by CNT. According to police, the prescription pills that were seized have a street value of approximately $7,300.
