Man indicted on attempted murder, burglary charges

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Dowaine McKenzie was indicted Wednesday on attempted murder, burglary and aggravated assault charges.

According to police, McKenzie stabbed a woman nearly a dozen times in a home on Green Acres Way back in September.

Police say he was wearing an ankle monitor during the attack and broke into the West Chatham Baptist church to hide from the police after the attack.

Police say he got out of jail in March after serving time in another robbery.
