SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Some pizzarias are taking extra safety precautions after Savannah-Chatham Metro police say a female pizza delivery driver was robbed and sexually assaulted.

The owner of Nicky's Pizza in Savannah says he stays in touch with his drivers on the phone as they  make their rounds. Drivers are also not allowed to carry large bills. The owner says it's a way to keep them safe while doing a job that can be very dangerous.

"We always communicate on the phone. If they don't come right back we call to see if everything is okay," says Sal Massa, owner.

On Wednesday, investigators arrested Kevin Johnson, 18, on robbery and aggravated sodomy charges. Authorities say Johnson ordered a pizza and waited in front of someone else's home on the 600 block of W. 54th St. He then pulled out a gun on the driver and tried to get her to perform sex acts.

Johnson also faces charges for possessing marijuana.
