Traffic slow in I-16 during morning commute

CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Authorities had a busy Thursday morning up and down Interstate 16 after two incidents slowed traffic.

First, a vehicle ran off the road on I-16 westbound at the Chatham Parkway exit ramp. The car flew into the woods. Police are still trying to figure out what happened.

There were no injuries reported and no lanes blocked. But traffic was slow because of rubberneckers.

Also on I-16 on Thursday morning, a Jeep Cherokee heading eastbound went up in flames. Officials said the fire was due to a bad engine.

Fire crews got there and quickly put the flames out.

The car did not block traffic, but drivers slowed down as they passed the Jeep. No one was hurt.
