On Thursday, Savannah City Council discussed a wine tasting ordinance which would allow difference businesses to have wine tasting events no longer than two hours. The ordinance would regulate non-alcoholic establishments from getting what some aldermen called carried away with alcohol involved events and provide clear guidelines.
"It is not a permanent license or anything. It has strict regulations around it. This is something which hopefully won't become a problem but will be something to help and encourage our businesses to hold these types of events," said Tony Thomas, Savannah City Council.
The ordinance is in the draft phase and the final proposal is expected to be presented to council at the beginning of the new year.
