CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -
The city will break ground on the Coffee Bluff Marina renovation project on Friday afternoon.
A groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. at the site, which is located at 14915 Coffee Bluff Rd., to mark the start of the upgrade of the city's first publicly owned marina.
The city's purchase of the marina guarantees public access to the Forest River, according to the city.
The $4 million project includes construction of a new fishing pier, a large picnic shelter and playground, replacement and expansion of the floating dock, a new marina store, replacement of the boat hoist, parking for vehicles with boat trailers and another covered boat storage shelter.
