HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -
The Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Authority, along with the Hilton Head Public Service District, are temporarily changing the drinking water treatment method and flush water lines throughout their service area for the next three weeks.
The change is part of routine maintenance work for both utilities' water distribution systems.
No interruption to service is expected as a result of the work. Customers are allowed to use their water as normal, as if nothing has changed.
However, residents may notice a slight chlorine taste, color or odor in the tap water. If your water appears discolored, you should run cold water for a few minutes.
If the problem remains after that, call BJWSA at (843) 987-9200 or the Hilton Head PSD at (843) 681-5525.
