Area students see the future of robotics at Armstrong
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Some middle and high school students at Armstrong Atlantic Saturday may be future engineers.
They were participating in a robotics showcase and competition. The event is an ongoing initiative to sparking students' interest in science, technology, engineering and math.
The group is strictly volunteers and some say the event helps not just the students, but everyone involved.
"Today they have some new challenges they've never seen before, so now they have to put together the skills they've been developing," said Dr. Ed Strauser. "They're going to have a competition of sorts between each other; it's a showcase more than anything."
"It's mainly a lot of patience, because you never know if it's going to work until you actually test it," said Abigail Hardage.
Saturday's events are the culmination of the program the students have been participating in all year.
