The Savannah Downtown Garden Club will present the City of Savannah with a check to cover the cost of fencing around a famous monument in downtown Savannah.

The Savannah Downtown Garden Club will join Savannah Mayor Edna B. Jackson at Johnson Square on Tuesday at 2pm.

The Garden Club will present the check of $10,500 to cover the cost of a wrought iron picket fence installed around the famous Nathanael Greene Monument.

The Garden Club wants to give back to the community by providing a permanent structure in this popular square. The fencing will provide protection for the monument and enhance the landscaping in the square.
