Port Royal police arrest woman on attempted murder charges

PORT ROYAL, SC (WTOC) -

A Lowcountry woman behind bars after police say she tried to rob a man, fired shots at him, and then attempted to evaded police.

Cassandra Ramos, 20, is facing several charges including attempted murder. Port Royal police say she tried to rob a relative at knifepoint in the Walmart parking lot after meeting him to get money. Police said that when she pulled a knife on Thomas Jones III, he got into his car and took off. Police said Ramos followed him in his car. 

"The chase led down Castle Rock Road onto Groberhill. Over on Groberhill Road in Port Royal, Ms. Ramos fired three shots with a 357 Magnum at Mr. Jones' vehicle in an attempt to get him stopped."

Officers were dispatched and tried to pull Ramos over for a traffic stop but she kept going until Old Shell Road. Both were taken into custody. Her passenger Omar Habersham was found with a set of brass knuckles and was charged with possesion of a concealed weapon.
