Employees and volunteers at Statesboro's hospital put together Thanksgiving meals for dozens of less-fortunate families.
STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -
Auxiliary volunteers of East Georgia Regional Medical Center helped Pastor John Long load paper bags of food into the back of his pickup truck and a trailer behind it. The holiday food packets went to Son's Light Baptist Church and their food pantry. The volunteers and hospital employees assembled enough food for 75 families.
"We know there are people that wouldn't have the meal without it," explained Paula Thompkins, president of the EGRMC auxillary. "Our hope is that they can have a special day with what we've put together.
Pastor John Long said the meals were distributed Monday afternoon as part of Son's Light's weekly food distribution.
