BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) -
The
owner of Sea Eagle Market, Craig Reaves, said he found a 1.25-pound lobster over the weekend in the Battery Creek River while he was out crabbing.
Reaves said his family has been in the shrimping and crabbing business for
decades and they've never seen a lobster in local waters.
"You
never see a cold water lobster at all," said Reaves. "We do have
spiny lobsters off of our coast from Florida to the Carolinas but his was a
northern lobster what you would think of as a Maine Lobster with claws, it's
kind of crazy."
Reaves
said he's not sure how the lobster have ended up in the river, but that it may
have been caused from the hurricane or from a storm.
So what happened to the
Lobster? Reaves' mom cooked it up for Sunday dinner.
