HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -
The Third Sustainment Brigade of the Third ID is getting ready to head downrange. They cased their colors in a ceremony on Monday.
Nearly 250 soldiers with brigade headquarters will deploy to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
They literally sustain the soldiers and their operations with fuel, food, water transportation and other needs in the southwest and southwest regional commands.
The responsibility is huge, but the brigade says they're ready.
"The war fighter needs to sustainment brigade to be on their a game everyday - if we fail - the war fighter is going to fail - and our motto here is nothing will fail because of logistics. And the war fighter will never have to worry about failing because we will have what the need at the right time," said Col. Ron Novack of the Third Sustainment Brigade.
This is the brigade's fifth deployment over the past decade. They deployed to Iraq three times, but this nine-month deployment will be their first in Afghanistan.
