SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Traffic on Ogeechee Road was backed up for hours Wednesday morning between Chatham Parkway and Buckhalter Road after a crash.

A truck ran into the back of a Chatham Area Transit bus that had stopped to pick up passengers. An area around the accident had to be roped off while the Savannah Chatham Major Accident Investigations Team investigated.

The driver of the pickup truck, Pamela Sellers, 32, died later at Memorial University Medical Center, where she was transported after the 6:04 a.m. collision.

One passenger on the bus complained of minor pains and was treated at the scene and released.

Police had to direct traffic in the area until about 9 a.m. The southbound lanes had to be completely shut down, so police turned the northbound lanes into two-way traffic.

All of US 17 is back open. MAIT continues to investigate.
