BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -

Two teens were arrested in connection with a car break-in overnight Beaufort.

Police responded just after midnight on Tuesday to a report of two people prowling around cars in driveways and entering cars on North Royal Oaks Road.

A witness told the first officer who arrived that the two people ran when a patrol drove up. Officers set up a perimeter and a canine unit from Beaufort County Sheriff's Office responded. The canine tracked to the two suspects who were hiding in the back yard of a house.

Beaufort police said two 17 year olds had cigarettes and cash on them money that they got out of unlocked cars. Police recovered property valued at $102. The two suspects, Jaquan Barnes, 17, of Beaufort, and Joshua Paige, 17, of Lady's Island, were charged with breaking into a motor vehicle.
