3rd ID soldiers served early Thanksgiving meal

Posted: Updated:

Nearly 700 3rd ID soldiers and their families enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast complete with all the trimmings at Ft. Stewart on Wednesday.

The dinner is a U.S. Army tradition. Some of the highest ranking officers served the soldiers and their families.

Many of the soldiers are away from home this holiday and waiting to deploy, while some have just returned from overseas.

"This is really good for the soldiers because it provides them with a place to eat and have a good time," said Sgt. Alicia Watkins.

Dinner was served from noon to 2 p.m. at Ft. Stewart's dining facilities.
