Salvation Army kicks off annual Red Kettle Campaign
BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -
On Wednesday, the Salvation Army kicked off their annual Red Kettle Campaign in Beaufort, collecting money to help give families in the area a good Christmas. They say this year the need is up by 10 percent over last year and every penny helps.
"This is how we raise about 40 percent of our money. All the money stays right here in Beaufort and Jasper counties and that's how we buy food and toys for all the families we serve," said Captain Kenny Griffin, Salvation Army.
They expect to assist more than 800 families this year. They will be ringing the bell and collecting money at stores throughout the lowcountry.
