HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -
Santa and
the Mrs. have upgraded their ride from the sleigh and reindeer.
They arrived
in style on Hilton Head Island in the back of a convertible. The annual Christmas
tree lighting festival kicked off with the annual parade where family and
friends gathered together to greet Santa Claus - Mrs. Claus - and Rudolf the
red nosed reindeer.
The event is a traditional yuletide
celebration helping Lowcountry residents get into the spirit of the season.
"It's
always the Saturday after thanksgiving, because we know that people will have
their family and it's a family time," said Kathi Bateson, President and CEO of
the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina.
"So, we want
the children here, that's why we plan the activities for them, that's why
they'll see their friends from school performing and they'll be ornaments they
can make and then we also collect food and gifts for deep well."
This is one of three free events
the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina holds each year.
