Woman charged after driving car through jewelry store
Surveillance video captures the car plowing into the front of the jewelry store.
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
More details have surfaced about a car that crashed through the front of the Harkleroad Jewelry store on Abercorn Street over the weekend.
Officers say Christina Wands, 84, was behind the wheel of the car that ran into the jewelry store Saturday. The store owner's 16-month-old son just escaped disaster less than a minute before Wands plowed through the front window with her car.
Marion Harkleroad, owner of Harkleroad Diamonds and Fine Jewelry, said he has some bruising from being trapped behind his desk after the car ran into his office, but is thankful no one was seriously hurt and plans to reopen Tuesday morning.
Police said Wands was not hurt in the crash, but she was charged with reckless driving. Police said Wands got into another wreck in September, although no one was hurt in that wreck.
