Lanes reopen on Ogeechee Rd. after 2-vehicle wreck

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

A two vehicle accident shut down a portion of Ogeechee Rd. Thursday morning.

The wreck happened at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday on Ogeechee Road at Bradley Boulevard. Officials have not released details about the wreck at this time, but WTOC has been told by residents of the Fords Pointe Apartments that the driver of a Pontiac Grand Am was pulling out of the apartment complex onto Ogeechee Road when it collided with a pickup truck that was turning into the apartment complex.

The female driver of the Pontiac complained that her leg was pinned inside the car and had to be cut from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life. She was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the truck was not hurt.

The accident did cause delays for morning commuters. Police had to reroute traffic around the wreck for a little over an hour while crews cleared the scene.

The road is now clear and open to traffic. The wreck is under investigation.
