Hilton Head asked to help fund Bluffton flyover

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

Beaufort County might need to borrow some money to complete the Bluffton Parkway flyover project.

The Island Packet reports that county officials have asked Hilton Head Island to contribute to the $45 million project.

Hilton Head Island Town Manager Steve Riley said there was talk years ago of giving the project $2.4 million.

The county said there are other ways to close the gap if borrowing doesn't work out - like borrowing from the state - or using money from the accommodations tax revenue.
