Paula, Jamie and Bobby Deen open Ort Hall in downtown Savannah.
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Paula Deen is opening
a banquet center in Savannah's Historic District.
On Thursday, Deen and
her sons Jamie and Bobby Deen cut the ribbon on Ort Hall. The venue - in honor
of Deen's Aunt Peggy will serve both the social and corporate world - for
private parties.
The space holds up to
about 80 people and offers catering and bar service. The Deens say Aunt Peggy
and Uncle George had a lot to do with their business today.
"Twenty-five years
ago, my Uncle George and Aunt Peggy not only offered us love and support, but they
had a lot of business experience. They were instrumental [in] our business. Seventeen
years ago, they lended us some capital to move downtown. My Uncle George passed
away, but my Aunt Peggy is still alive and helping us, and to be able to honor
her today is important to us," said Jamie Deen.
The
banquet space is open now for booking.
