The Chatham Co. Sheriff's Office held a graduation ceremony Friday for six inmates and dog who recently completed the Operation New Hope program.
One of the dogs graduating will next undergo training to become a therapy dog for SSgt. Todd Warfel, a Ft. Stewart soldier suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.
"I'd like to thank the Humane Society for hooking up with the sheriff's office and hopefully other people out there, especially our soldiers in need of a service dog. They can check on this and they can come through the program and get benefited by it as well," said Lora Warfel, soldier's wife.
For those interested in adopting any of the other dogs, contact the Humane Society of Greater Savannah.
