Hospice Savannah holds annual candle lighting memorial

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Hospice Savannah held their 21st annual Tree of Light candle-lighting and memorial gathering Sunday evening in Forsyth Park.

Folks were invited to come together to celebrate the memory of loved ones they may have lost, which organizers say is especially important this time of the year.

"One of the tools when we lose someone is to stay busy and that's sometimes what gets us through this, but it's equally important to really stop, slow down, and take a moment to really honor them and to really honor yourself and what you're going through and that's what tonight's about," said Jamey Expina, director of Community Services at Hospice Savannah.

Sunday's event is also an annual fundraiser for Hospice Savannah, which provides many services to the public free of charge.
