SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Georgia Senate bill 401 would allow you to lease solar panels from companies saving you about thirty to fifty percent of your energy cost a month.
Any excess energy would go back into the grid for others to use. Right now you can lease solar panels but it's illegal for anyone but Georgia Power to trade in electric power. The bill has bi-partisan support but Georgia Power opposed it and the bill was shelved until next year.
"Some customers are saying I want to develop solar for myself. That's great, but when you look at the economics and the terms of payback, customers need to look at what will it do for me?
The bill could come up in next year's legislative session.
