Ga. DOT fines Skidaway Island bridge contractors for delay

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Contractors for the Skidaway Island bridge are being fined $1,000 a day for every day past Nov. 30, the intermediate completion date for the bridge.

United Contractors and the Georgia Department of Transportation are working on plans to safely remedy a misalignment, the cause of which is still in dispute.

The contract originally required a overall completion date of July 31, 2013.
