Area mayors deliver gifts to Georgia Regional Psychiatric Hospital

ATLANTA (WTOC) -

Area mayors pitched in Wednesday to make the holidays brighter for folks who may be facing some dark times. Leaders of cities across southeast Georgia delivered armloads of gifts to Georgia Regional Psychiatric Hospital. The presents are donated by citizens of the participating towns. The motorcade has been going on since 1958 and the mayors say they look forward to the holiday tradition.

"Oh, it is such an exciting time to ride through the Georgia Regional parking lot and see a wave of excitement. It jump starts the season real well," said Joe Brannen, Statesboro mayor.

The purpose of the motorcade is to raise awareness of psychiatric patient's needs.
