A Salvation Army employee is attempting to set a Charlotte record for bell ringing and raise $5,000 in her red kettle.
Jessica Chapman started ringing her bell at the Epicenter at midnight Thursday. Chapman says she's going until 3 a.m. Friday. That means no sleeping, no eating and only a 10 minute sanity break every four hours. She says like most things, location matters.
"The EpiCentre is the hub of Charlotte if you will. Lots of different activity going on around here from bar patrons restaurant patrons, workers, visitors and I thought it would be just a great place to reach a younger crowd," Chapman said.
Chapman will move to College Street later Thursday if you want to help her cause.
The Salvation Army says this year's kettle goal is $435,000. That's $10,000 more than last year.
