Chatham-Savannah Narcotics Team and the Georgia State Patrol have arrested Jamaal Singleton, 34 of Pooler, on multiple drug charges after leading police on a high speed chase on Interstate 16.
Officers were doing a routine safety check on the off ramp to Pooler Parkway on I-16 around midnight Saturday when the stopped Singleton.
While trying to further investigate what smelled like marijuana coming from the car, Singleton took off, nearly hitting an officer in the process.
Singleton's car crashed into a nearby neighborhood sign and attempted to run from officers, but was caught in the process.
Singleton was charged with felony and misdemeanor traffic offenses including driving under the influence, driving without headlights, fleeing to elude a police officer, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana more than one once.
These recent charges mark Singleton's, who was on federal release for drug related charges, 28th arrest in Chatham County, 18th of which is drug related.
