LADY'S ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -
The
Lady's Island St. Helena Fire District rescued a dog that was trapped under a
dock off of White Dogwood Road.
An
emergency call initially came in at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday on a man being trapped
under a dock, according to the fire department.
A
Jack Russell Terrier swam under the dock and crawled between the float and the
decking of the dock and got wedged in between.
The
man in the water refused to abandon his dog and emergency responders worked to
free the Jack Russell, according to the fire department.
EMT
Paulo Pacheco, of Beaufort County EMS, and firefighters
Scott Maxey and Michael McHale of the Lady's Island St. Helena Fire District,
pulled the dock boards up to get to the dog.
The
dog's now nicknamed Buckshot. His owner got out of the water and no additional
injuries occurred.
