Bicyclist injured in hit-and-run identified

EFFINGHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

A Guyton man was severely injured Sunday night in a hit-and-run while riding his bike.

Mitchell Johnson, 47 was biking south on Hodgeville Road near Forest Haven Road when he was struck from behind by a vehicle, according to the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.

He remains at Memorial University Medical Center.

A passerby spotted a mangle bike and Johnson lying on the side of Hodgeville Road at about 7 p.m. Sunday.

Anyone who has details about the incident or saw what happened can call the Georgia State Patrol or Effingham County Sheriff's Office.
