Man shot remains in critical condition

The shooting occurred in the first block of West 53rd Street.

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police continue to investigate a shooting that occurred Friday morning.

Rashamel Howard, who turned 19 on Monday, was shot at about 10:51 a.m. Friday in the first block of West 53^rd Street, where he also lives, according to police.

He was taken to Memorial University Medical Center and remains in critical condition.

Violent Crimes investigators said Howard was in the carport of a home with other men who were handling a gun when it discharged.
