Police Investigate Savannah Homicide

Savannah-Chatham police are now investigating what was first termed a suspicious death as a definite homicide. Just after 2pm yesterday afternoon, Chatham County sheriff's deputies discovered the body of a young man inside an upstairs apartment in a home in the 400 block of East 38th Street at the corner of 38th and Price Streets.

Detectives say they have now identified the young man. His name will be released later this morning. The body has been taken to the GBI crime lab in Savannah for an autopsy.

Neighbors in the area tell WTOC they believe the house was a gathering place for illegal activity. Forensics officers combed the area, and detectives had a car towed from the scene that could contain evidence pertaining to the investigation.

Detectives are asking for your help. Anyone with information about this killing is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 234-2020.
