SPOTTED: Paddleboarder seen just feet away from whale

Photographer Steve Young snapped this photo off the Surf City Pier Sunday.

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – What would you do if you were only a few yards away from a whale?

Photographer Steve Young snapped this photo off the Surf City Pier Sunday. You can see paddleboarder Chris Hill just about ten feet away from a whale.

Young said he was in the area snapping photos when he saw the whale approach. Both men said they were extremely lucky to capture such an incredible moment.

A paper in the area is reporting the whale has been confirmed as a Humpback.
