On Thursday, organizers and volunteers unloaded close to 1,800 wreaths at the Beaufort National Cemetery. They'll be laying them on graves at the cemetery as part of a national effort called Wreaths Across America to honor and remember veterans during this holiday season.
"The man who started this thing out of Maine started laying them at Arlington National Cemetery," said David Edwards, U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club. "He gives the first 5,000 wreaths to Arlington every year and this is a way for us to give back to people who paved the way for us."
A special Wreaths Across America Ceremony will be held at noon Dec. 15 at the Beaufort National Cemetery.
